In high-pressure die casting, every “shot” — the injection of molten metal into the die — defines the quality of the part. Yet not all shots are created equal.


🎯 What is shot monitoring?

Shot monitoring tracks key process parameters during each injection, including:

  • Injection speed

  • Metal pressure

  • Shot piston position

  • Fill time


By logging these parameters shot-to-shot, operators can spot deviations before they result in poor parts.


Why it matters:

Without shot monitoring, issues like:

  • Dimensional drift

  • Surface defects (flow marks, blisters)

  • Porosity

  • Internal stress


… might not be caught until parts fail inspection — or worse, fail in service.
